To assist with the preparation of your artwork here are a
number of topics that will provide information on some of
the issues that may arise.
If you cannot find what you need to know here, or require
further clarification on any of the listed topics, please
contact us.
Layout
Most of our products follow standard 'A' paper sizes. Please
supply everything in a 'one up' basis (unless otherwise requested),
i.e. provide one business card on a 90 x 50mm or 85 x 55mm
page or one A4 leaflet on a 210 x 297 page.
Photo Scans and Images
Images should be provided at a minimum of 300dpi size and
saved in CMYK format.
TIFF file formats are preferred but we also accept images
in many other formats including JPEG and GIF. Care should
be taken when providing images in other formats as compression
may be used that will reduce final quality.
Bleed
Images, background colours and fills which are intended to
extend to the edge of the page should be extended 3mm beyond
the page to give a bleed. Text, boxes and other areas you
need on your finished job should sit 5mm in from the edges
of the page.
Colour
We recommend the use of Pantone® Colour swatches rather than
relying on screen colours. Please note that colours may change
according to the stock we print on and may vary 5% to 10%
lighter or darker than shown on the Pantone books each and
everytime we print.
Photoshop
CS, CS2 & CS3 users
If possible for best
results, come to see us so we can show you colours from our
swatch sheets which are printed using our presses.
Where this is not possible,
and you must use the Photoshop Swatch libraries please ensure
that you select the PANTONE Solid to Process library. Choosing
any other library will give unexpected and disappointing results.
If you would like further information on colour selection
please contact us.
Fonts
We carry many fonts but to avoid delay please provide TrueType
fonts. Even if you create fonts to outlines in your artwork
file.
If you want to send your files by email we can accept file
attachments up to 6 Meg. Please call before you send large
files.
If you have Huge files you may want to post them to us on
Disk. (CD or DVD).
PC files are preferred.
All
artwork should be supplied in PDF format as well as a high
resolution JPEG so we may use as a visual hardcopy.
PDF's
should be editable, have the fonts turned to outlines and
include any bleed and crop marks. |
